FHS artists Will Groves (gr12), Jaiden Jean (gr12), and Yassmine Bougoussa (gr11) apply transferable skills learned in art—creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and visual communication—by designing a brand identity for the FPS Vision of a Graduate. Their work showcases how artistic thinking can strengthen real-world design projects that connect with their community.
Why Study Art?
The learning that occurs in art education reinforces skills that are increasingly important in the workplace and the ever-changing world. Over a decade ago, researchers with Harvard’s Project Zero identified The Studio Habits of Mind, a set of eight dispositions that an artist uses. Here at FHS, we use The Studio Habits of Mind in each and every art class to empower students to articulate their learning in any subject matter and provide an entry point for learning based on individual needs.
