Sculpture 1 – 0855CP Grades 9 – 12 .5 Credits Semester
The Sculpture 1 course is a semester-long, entry-level course that follows the Massachusetts Visual Arts Standards and Studio Habits of Mind. The course focuses on developing students' understanding of basic sculpting techniques through the use of a variety of materials. Students will explore additive and subtractive methods to create both abstract and representational forms. In addition, students will study the work of sculptors throughout history, both past and present, to gain an understanding of the evolution of the medium and the various approaches to sculpture. Through this exploration, students will develop their own unique style and vision.
